Squirrels
A squirrel's favorite hiding places are your chimney, roof or the attic. These are also the very first areas that a squirrel pest control technician checks during squirrel removal. Once a squirrel nibbles his way into the attic or some other place in your house, then he’s set for life. He has plenty of food to survive, lots of room to scurry about in, and a home. That’s of course unless you can step in and get him out of there! There are other ways you may invite these rodents inside your house unwittingly. Squirrels feed on the leftovers of your pets, so if you leave dog food or bird seed lying about, you're bound to have the privilege of squirrel company soon.
To have just a handful of these little rodents in your attic can be disastrous as they can chew through just about anything. It could be the insulation of your wiring, siding or roof. Gray squirrels have their day timed like humans do - they leave “their home” or your attic during the day to hunt for food, and then return back late in the evening. This is why you hear no sound from them during the day. These squirrels can chew through your Vinyl’s siding, thin gauge aluminum and even the lead flashing. Flying squirrels however, are active late at night, especially when they have bats for company. If your house has a stone foundation like older houses do, then your house is a magnet for red squirrels.
Squirrel removal is not an easy task. People may try to sell you dubious products, including fox and coyote urine or ultrasonic sound emitters that are completely inadequate to trap squirrels. A squirrel removal company will clear up squirrel feces and urine, remove the squirrels, and seal the holes that they enter your house through. Then, they take adequate measures to make sure that these rodents do not enter again. Sprays can have a strong effect on squirrels, but these are not really the most thorough and permanent squirrel removal solution.
